Mykonos Part 3 – The Mykonos Maze

One of our favourite things about beautiful Mykonos is the maze of whitewashed back streets, draped in fuchsia bougainvillea and embellished with pops of bright blue.

We found ourselves often getting lost in amongst the labyrinth of pathways… and it was utterly wonderful.

It’s a place you can wonder around for days and every time stumble across something unexpected. From seashells to pasta shells, every corner offers a new delight.

The friendly locals may even persuade (force!) you to try on a hat or two.

When we arrived in Mykonos it was love at first sight.

Once we had settled into our room at the beautiful Rocabella, we headed straight into Mykonos Town and spent the next few hours gasping and grabbing at each other in awe.

The island has a certain charm about it that can’t be explained, seeing really is believing.

From the cobbled streets beneath your feet to the churches that rise high above you and sit against the sun bleached sky, Mykonos takes your breath away and gets you eagerly wanting more.

Now, Mykonos has a bit of a reputation for being a party island, and while that may be some peoples cup of tea that certainly wasn’t our intention for our short stay here.

We only had five days to soak it all up and wanted to feel refreshed and relaxed before heading home to the 9 to 5.

If partying is your thing then we recommend heading to the island between June and September. If you’re like us, and want to selfishly have the Mykonos maze to yourself, then May is definitely your month!

The weather was glorious, the streets were quiet and the locals were charming (although we’re sure they would join in with the celebrations during the peak summer months too).

Although we only spent five days on the island we managed to squeeze a visit to Mykonos Town in every day. We honestly couldn’t get enough of it.
