Chelsea, Kensington & Flamingo’s

A few weekends ago Mum and I headed off to London together for a short break filled with great food, great wine and even better company. This is becoming a bit of a yearly tradition for us, we don’t often get to spend quality time just the two of us so it’s nice to get a date in the diary to fully unwind together… and we did just that!

We arrived in London by midday on Saturday and dropped our bags off at the hotel. Not wanting to waste any time we took the opportunity to quickly hang up our evening outfits and top-up our makeup before heading back out into the bustling London crowds.

We hopped on the tube to Chelsea, my brother is working there at the moment and we wanted to drop by to say a quick hello, but not before we stopped to get a few photographs of the beautiful streets that surround it. A mixture of bright white lanes with striking black detailing and rainbow rows of multi-coloured houses… I can only dream that Dan and I will be the proud owner of a house like this one day.

After stopping to have a quick catch up with my brother we made our way to Kensington to visit The Roof Gardens. An iconic and extraordinary landmark in London, situated 100ft above street level, famous for having real-life flamingo’s in residence!

The weather wasn’t in our favour that day but this didn’t seem to bother the hot pink feathered birds that stood proudly in front of us. We sat watching them for ages, they were graceful and beautiful and had an aura about them that made you stop and stare.

It was hard to believe we were stood on top of a building taking in the sights of three beautifully landscaped gardens spanning across 1.5 acres. If you are ever in the area it’s definitely worth a visit, I can’t wait to take Dan there, although it’ll be in the summer so we can wonder around with a glass of fizz in hand too!

Following our visit here, Mum and I spent the rest of the weekend eating copious amounts of macaron’s in Ladurée, drinking our body weight in Prosecco and visiting the theatre to watch Les Misérables. It was a lovely weekend and I’m looking forward to our next date in London.
